The Council recognises and rewards staff who have either served a long period of Local Government Service, or choose to retire whilst employed with Tendring District
Council. In each case an award is given to each individual calculated on certain criteria. This criteria is outlined as follows.
Where an employee reaches 25 years of continuous service with Tendring District Council their commitment and loyalty is rewarded. Staff who have achieved 25 years’ service on 1st April of each year, will receive their Loyalty Award during that financial year.
The Loyalty Award is for the sum of £100. This will be paid as £150 gross in a lump sum with the employee’s usual salary BACs payment. Any Tax or National Insurance will be deducted from the £150 gross to ensure that the employee receives £100.
Where an employee chooses to retire and elects to take their pension or in accordance with the Local Government Pension Scheme, chooses to retire from the Council after they have reached the state retirement age, and has a minimum of 10 years of service with Tendring District Council their commitment and loyalty is rewarded with a gift. This monetary gift is paid as a gross lump sum within the employee’s usual salary BACs payment.
Details of the gifts are as follows:
(Please note: Retirement gifts will not granted when an employee is leaving the organisation with a redundancy payment).
