WiFi Access in Offices

Information to access TDC WiFi

WiFi 1 – Name: Town Hall, Pier Barnes, Northbourne WiFi

This secure WIFI is for Council Staff and Councillors with a Tendring District Council managed device. When on this network users are effectively part of the corporate domain and so can only join via devices with a legitimate certificate, username and password.

When connecting - rather than entering a key or password - there will be an option saying “Connect via certificate”.  Click on this to create the connection. The IT team will be available to assist you if you experience any issues.  Please contact the IT Service desk via 01255 686599 or at ITservicedesk@tendringdc.gov.uk

WiFi 2- Name: TownHall, Pier Barnes, Northbourne Guest WiFi

This wifi is for official visitors only to the Town Hall.  It is not provided for staff to connect their personal mobile phones to in order to access ‘free’ Council data services.  There will be passphrase “TDC_glanXX” where “XX” is the number of the current month (01 – Jan, 02 – Feb etc). Updates to this passphrase will be published on the Intranet. This has internet access only and devices connected to it are isolated from each other. After connecting users will be redirected to a splash page where they will have to accept the Council’s Terms and Conditions before the connection is finalised. Every month users will have to update the passphrase associated with the connection.

Users should be aware that all traffic from both Wireless networks is logged as it goes through our Firewalls and could be accessed and viewed in accordance with the Council’s monitoring policy.
